Le Port Surf School in conjunction with Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Channel Islands are launching a surf combined with Jiu Jitsu 8 week development programme. With the recent announcement that Surfing will take place at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, this collaboration will see the opportunity for local surfers to take on the same training as some of the worlds top surfers, including Kelly Slater, Joel Tudor and BJ Penn, to name but a few, who all practice Jiu Jitsu. The good news is that this training is open to adults regardless of whether or not they have experience with either sport and will be delighted to welcome beginners to both sports. Recently, the world Jiu Jitsu champion, Braulio Estima, visited the island to run a masterclass and summer camp - while he was here he spent time at Le Port Surf School with his family, for the school this was a huge honour. These sessions will take place at Le Port Surf School in the heart of Saint Ouens Bay and will be run by Neil "Dozza" Dorrington, who has 22 years experience coaching surfers in Jersey and by Professor Rob Staples, Black Belt, from Gracie Barra Jiu Jitsu. If you would like to find out more information please get in touch and either coach would be delighted to provide more information. This is a very exciting time for the development of both sports in Jersey.
