The Channel Islands Junior Surf Team proudly represented Jersey and Guernsey at the 2026 European Junior Surfing Championships, held in Bundoran, Ireland, from 27 September to 4 October. Competing against some of Europe's strongest young surfing talent, the team took part in a prestigious event that brought together more than 200 surfers from 20 national federations. With competition taking place at the renowned breaks of The Peak and Tullan Strand, the championships provided a fantastic opportunity for the Islands' young surfers to test their abilities on the European stage.

Representing the Channel Islands was a talented group of young surfers, including Jesse Heddercott, Luca Sebastianelli, Albie Gould, Jake Le Quesne, Aleksander Blampied, Arran Hunt, Cayden Bell, Daisy Heddercott, Maisie Le Moignan, Nava Dowse-Harris and Rebecca Lynam. Supported by team manager Dan Harris, coach Max Bennett and coaches Jodie Lynam and Katherine Heddercott, the squad headed to Ireland determined to showcase the high standard of junior surfing across the Islands.

The Channel Islands finished an impressive 9th overall out of 20 competing nations, collecting 5,223 points. This was a strong achievement for a relatively small island team competing against established European surfing nations, including Portugal, Spain, Italy, England and France. The result placed the Channel Islands just behind Germany and ahead of Belgium, highlighting the strength and potential of the next generation of local surfers.

Beyond the final standings, the championships offered invaluable international competition experience and an opportunity for the young surfers to develop their skills, confidence and competitive understanding. Finishing inside Europe's top ten is an achievement the entire team, coaching staff and supporters can be proud of. The experience in Ireland provides a positive foundation for the future of Channel Islands surfing and demonstrates that our young athletes can compete on an international stage.
